Osvat, Budapest, Hungary | Download PDF
This project was part of the inner-city redevelopment of Budapest. The main driver behind the choice of automated car parking was restricted space. A certain number of car parking spaces were required to service a hotel and office development, and provide for public parking.

There were two key drivers behind the choice of automated parking on this site: space and security. Szeged, Hungary’s second biggest city, was experiencing huge problems with vehicle theft – many were ending up the wrong side of the border.

The key driver behind this project was security. European executive cars were frequently being vandalised or stolen; the inherent security of the Skyparks Robotic Parking System (SRPS) meant it was the perfect parking solution.

A low rise office building was converted into high-rise apartments on this site, which meant more car parking spaces were needed. This was a very challenging project due to the existing building constraints, but the end result was successful.

The restricted footprint on this site meant a conventional parking solution was simply not practical. The SRPS provided the number of parking spaces required under planning regulations. This was a challenging design as the SRPS structure also supported a 26 story residential tower block.

A car park to service the existing and planned extension to a exhibition centre and for public parking was part of the master plan for this site. Although a conventional car park was initially proposed, the Skyparks Robotic Parking System (SRPS) solution released back space that allowed approximately 54,000 ft2 net of office space to be built – space that would not have existed at all with a conventional solution.

Skyparks was chosen by an independent parking consultant, working on behalf of the client, to remove an existing automated parking system at Fondation Cartier (Cartier’s HQ) and replace it with a more reliable, efficient and technologically advanced solution.
